A collage of images, blacked out, and their shapes cut from wood panels and painted black, in an exercise that I refer to as ‘anti-images’. This work is concerned with the legibility of black culture as it relates to overconsumption and the tendency that that has to untether something from its origins. This work exists as a refusal of that consumption. The title alludes to the formation of a ‘New Black Continent’ which exists online in cyberspace through the permeation of black culture on the frontier of the internet.
